In order for an athlete to be considered for the George Washington High School Athletic Hall of Fame, they must first acquire 75 points from the qualifying point system by the time they graduate high school, represent George Washington with honor and integrity, have competed at GW for at least two years, and have been removed from GW for five years. Points will only be given for honors while the student-athlete attends GW.
If an athlete meets or exceeds the required 75 points, they will become eligible for review by the Hall of Fame Committee. Once the minimum point total is reached, the committee will discuss all honors including post-high school athletic career and contributions to the community. The committee consists of all current Athletic Board Members and the Athletic Director. The committee will review the Hall of Fame nominees at the end of each school year and decide based on the athletes’ integrity, citizenship, and athletic achievement. The athlete will be inducted into the Hall of Fame if 90% of the committee’s vote is in their favor.
Former athletic coaches and teams at GW will also be eligible for induction into the Hall of Fame if nominated by the Hall of Fame Committee and receive a 90% vote in their favor.
