A Foot Above, the GWHS Athletics Committee, aims to foster fairness, equity, community, and self-expression among our student-athletes. We are shining a brighter light on Title IX (equity & fairness for female athletes & teams) and raising money to support all GW athletic teams. 

We work to: 

• ensure fairness & equity for our female athletes and teams, specifically as it pertains to opportunities and funding and other aspects of Title IX rules

• make sports participation accessible to all students, regardless of experience or ability to cover costs (athletic fees, uniform/warm-ups, travel fees, etc.)

• attract more students to athletics, knowing that playing sports helps students

1) develop strong relationships with teammates and coaches

2) feel valued and recognized for their contributions to their team(s)

3) improve academic performance and mental health 

4) gain the opportunity to compete to the best of their abilities and to win championships in their respective sports  

Your financial support can help us:

• maintain safe and up-to-date equipment and facilities

• fund uniforms & warm-ups for students unable to cover these costs

• fund team travel, meals, and tournament fees  

GW and other DPS high schools rely heavily on outside funding to meet the needs of our students. By raising the bar for athletics, we not only help our students, but we build a sense of community, pride, and commitment at GW that makes us a stronger school.
