Fall 2025 Athletic Participation Requirements

All students planning to try out or participate in official practices for Fall 2025 must be fully registered and approved prior to any participation. This includes submitting required documentation and receiving clearance from the High School Athletic Director.

To be eligible for tryouts and official practices, students must have:

• A completed and submitted registration form on the Arbiter platform

• A current physical exam on file with the High School Athletic Director (it is strongly recommended that families upload the exam directly to Arbiter).  New in 25-26 is the required CHSAA physical exam template.  Please see below.

• A transcript review to verify academic eligibility

• Final approval from the High School Athletic Director

Students who are not cleared through this process will not be permitted to participate in practices, tryouts, or team activities.

We are excited to welcome you to the 2025–2026 school year and CHSAA athletic calendar!

Tryouts and official practices for CHSAA-sanctioned high school Fall sports will begin on the following dates:

• August 4, 2025: Boys Golf and Football

• August 11, 2025: Cross Country, Field Hockey, Girls Flag Football, Football, Boys Golf, Gymnastics, Boys Soccer, Softball, Spirit, Boys Tennis, Unified Bowling, and Girls Volleyball

To be eligible for tryouts and official practices for the 2025–2026 school year, students must complete the following:

• Submit a completed registration through the Arbiter platform

• Submit the Pay to Play fee through the Arbiter platform

• Please upload a copy of the current physical exam to the Arbiter platform or provide a copy to the Athletic Director

  • Effective July 2025, CHSAA will only accept the official CHSAA Physical Exam forms as valid documentation.

  • PPE Form - ALL PAGES 1-4

  • PPE Form - ALL PAGES 1-4 - Spanish

• A transcript review for eligibility 

• An approval from the High School Athletic Director

Students who have not met these requirements will not be permitted to participate in tryouts, practices, or team activities.

(Tentative)Summer Hours for School-Based Health Clinics

We have worked with the Denver Health office to offer extended hours at some of our high schools.  

Open the entire summer:  Montbello, GW, Lincoln

Open beginning July 28:  Manual, South, JFK

Open August 11:  North, West, East, TJ, Northfield

• School clinics that are not open until August 11 are in part due to schools that are under construction,  as well as staffing and trying to allocate our limited resources most efficiently throughout the district.

Required Physical Forms for 25-26 and Beyond

Denver Health and our school-based health clinics have fully transitioned to the required form. Kaiser has also completed their transition to the new form.

We have eight AFCs in the Denver area who are aware of and have received the forms; however, they will not be updating their systems to reflect the new form.  

Beginning in July 2025, the CHSAA membership will only accept the following forms for documentation of physical exams:

• PPE Form - ALL PAGES 1-4

• PPE Form - ALL PAGES 1-4 - Spanish

Pay-to-Play Fees for Middle School and High School

Beginning in the 2024-2025 school year, the pay-to-play fees for Denver Public Schools Athletics will have a scheduled increase over the next 4 school years:

High School Ticket Prices/Admission

Tickets/Admission for athletic events will increase in 2024-2025 to the following amounts:

• $7 for adults

• $5 for ages 13+

• $3 for ages 5-12

• $3 for ages 65+

Student Without a Program 

If your school of attendance does not offer a program, your student may access the Student Without a Program process and guidelines:

• A student is defined as SWOP “If a student’s school of attendance or nonpublic home-based educational program does not offer an activity in which the student wishes to participate, the student may participate in the activity at another public school in the student’s school district of attendance or in the student’s school district of residence. 

• The student and family should select a school of participation where they will compete in the majority of their interested sports.

• In addition to the arbitersports registration, please notify your Athletic Director directly that your student is a Student Without a Program.
